Azkals still fine tuning rhythm: coach

MANILA, Philippines – German coach Hans Michael Weiss said the Philippine Azkals will still have to fine tune some aspects of their game to ensure that they can handle the Mongolians even in their cold home turf.

The Azkals recently routed a selection of the Baguio Football Club, 9-1, in a friendly game held at the Benguet State University grounds.

Weiss, however, said the Nationals will have to improve their rhythm if they want to duplicate their 2-0 victory over the Mongolians in the Challenge Cup qualifiers.

“We still have to work on our rhythm,” he said. “We still have to work on passing quality and the cohesion between midfield defense and backline.”

The Azkals are currently undergoing high-altitude training in Baguio City as part of their preparations for the freezing conditions in Ulan Bator where they are scheduled to play Mongolia.

The Filipino booters will hold their practices at the Brent International School grounds until Friday. – With a report from Maira Wallis, ABS-CBN North Luzon
