DAVAO CITY, Philippines (PNA) -- Newly-appointed coach Maor Rozen of Uruguay, a Spanish Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) "A" license coach, will look for young players to join in the Under-19 national men’s team from Mindanao.
Davao Football Association (DFA) general-secretary Erwin E. Protacio said Rozen will be in Bukidnon on March 26 and 27 at the Camp Philips football field and in Davao City on March 28 and 29 at the Tionko field to personally supervise the selection.
Protacio said the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) is preparing for the ASEAN Football Federation Under-19 Youth Championships in September in Myanmar and the best way to select the country's best players is to go to the key cities and provinces where football associations regularly hold tournaments and training.
“Mindanao football players will get the chance to play for the Under-19 national men's football team. The selection will also give the players in Mindanao and in other parts of the country to get notice and prayerfully get the nod of the coach. And a lot of players in Mindanao have been waiting for this opportunity," he said.
Protacio said out of the selection process, a PFF technical staff will also be eyeing for players who will possibly be selected too in the Under-23 and Senior teams in the coming years.
Players born on or after January 1, 1993 are required to bring a copy of their National Statistics Office or NSO-issued birth certificate and valid identification card with birth date, he added.
