Columbia FC ended their impressive campaign in the PFF-SMART men’s national club championships after suffering a 0-3 loss against Stallion FC in their quarter-finals encounter at the Don Gregorio Pelaez Sports Complex on Saturday.
Stallion forward and former filipino international Ruben Doctora Jr. continued his impressive goalscoring record with his sixth goal in two consecutive matches.
He fired home five goals in their 10-3 victory against Baguio United to break Izo’s four goal haul against Ba-O breakers last Thursday.
Goals from Lee Joo Young and Jimmy Vergara Jr. completed the 3-0 rout and helped their side progress to the tournament’s semi-finals ending pre-match league leaders’ Columbia FC campaign.
Columbia were a surprising side in the tournament. They went into the tournament as underdogs but defeated high-flying Pachanga 1-0 last Thursday at the CPU Football Field to defy the odds.
