Manila, AUGUST 17 (Sugod.com) – Paul Concepcion grabbed his morale boosting goal as San Beda draw closer to claiming their first trophy in the Philippine Football Federation-SMART Mens National Club Championships.
Former filipino international Vaugh Mellendrez scored the opening goal before Paul Concepcion netted home for San Beda in the 36th minute. It was Concepcion’s first goal since the brace in his side’s 16-0 victory over ABC Stars back in June.
Stallion forward Ruben Doctora Jr. got himself a consolation goal to increase his goals tally to seven in three consecutive matches with the club. Despite his impressive form, the experienced forward was unable to prevent his side from losing their trophy chances.
The San Beda victory, on the other hand, proved to be the highest achievement on home soil by the Younghusband brothers and UP winning coach Andres ‘Anto’ Gonzales who will be preparing for next year’s AFC Challenge Cup and UAAP Football Championships respectively.
San Beda will face either Teknika FC or Pachanga FC in the PFF-SMART mens national club championships finals which starts on August 20, 2011.
