Former filipino international Ruben Doctora Jr. leads the goalscoring chart of the PFF-SMART men’s national club championships group stage after his five goal haul against Baguio United on Thursday.
Doctora set the tone in the match against Baguio and helped his side progress to the next stage by scoring his 6th goal in the 3-0 group stage victory over Columbia FC yesterday.
The experienced forward, in his previous competitive matches, represented Gilligan’s at the now-defunct Filipino Premier League and Far Eastern University of the UAAP.
But today, he plays regular football at Stallion FC in the LBC United Football League second division.
He is one of the players to watch in the upcoming semi-finals match at the University of Makati football stadium.
Other top goalscorers are Teknika’s Ayi Aryee and Izo Elhabbib, San Beda’s James Younghusband and Phil Younghusband as well as Doctora’s teammates Lee Joo Young and Jimmy Vergara Jr.
